John M. Xifaras
graduated from Babson College. He received his law
degree from Suffolk University Law School. He
practiced admiralty, labor and employment law from
1961 to 1983. He was an Associate Justice of the
District court from 1983 to 1988. He was an
Associate Justice of the Superior Court of
Massachusetts from 1988 to August 2000. From
September 200 to the present, he serves as a
mediator and arbitrator with JAMS. He is a member of
the Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar
Association, Bristol County Bar Association, New
Bedford Bar Association and the American Bar
Association.
Joseph B. McIntyre
received his Baccalaureate degree from the college
of the Holy Cross and his J.D. degree from New
England School of Law. In 1990 he received a
Master's degree in Public Administration from the
Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Mr. McIntyre served as a Representative to the
General Court of Massachusetts from 1984 until 1998.
While there he served as Chair of the Criminal
Justice and Judiciary Committees, respectively. In
that position he authored and shepherded through the
Legislature such bills as the Truth-In-Sentencing
Act, the Victim-Witness-Bill-of Rights, Drunk
Driving Reforms, the Community Corrections Act, our
current Child Abuse Statute and many other important
initiatives. He was honored twice as Legislature-of
the-Year by the State's Victim-Witness Board, as
well receiving similarly named awards from the
Bristol County Bar Association and the Massachusetts
Parole Officer's Association. Mr. McIntyre has been
chosen to receive the Citizens for Juvenile Justice
Dedicated Service Award and the Department of Youth
Services Commissioner's Award.
